Listening

This is Aayush Maharjan’s listening room — a full-screen music page on his portfolio where visitors can hear the same playlist he keeps in rotation. The room pairs a liquid-glass mini player with spinning album art, seek controls, previous and next buttons, and an upcoming queue so you can skip ahead or drag to reorder what plays next.

Press Space to play or pause. Use the on-screen controls for previous and next tracks, or open the queue list to browse titles and artists. Local time in Kathmandu appears on the page so the room feels tied to where he works from. When you navigate away, a compact dock can keep the music going while you browse projects, writing, and the rest of the site.

The listening room is part of aayushmaharjan.com, the personal site of a frontend-focused software engineer based in Nepal. It is intentionally immersive: one photographic background, one glass player, and the current track — no social feed, no comments, no recommendations panel. Just what is playing right now, shared the same way you might leave a stereo on for someone walking into a room.

Tracks come from a curated favorites playlist spanning R&B, alternative, and related listening. The player is built for the web — keyboard friendly, responsive on phones, and designed to feel like a small object sitting on glass rather than a default HTML audio bar. If you arrived from the home page “listen to what I'm listening” link, this is that destination.

Accessibility and quiet UI details matter here too: screen-reader labels on controls, reduced-motion friendly transitions where the rest of the site supports them, and a back link to return home without fighting the immersive layout. Stay as long as you like — the room is meant to be a pause, not another page to skim.
